Launched on 1 September 2010 as Sarthak TV, Zee Sarthak is the leading Odia TV channel by viewership. Zee acquired Sarthak TV in July 2015[1] [2]
Unlike most other regional (i.e., non-Hindi and non-English) entertainment channels of the Zee network, Zee Sarthak does not carry either the name of the state of Odisha nor the language (Odia) in its name. (However, sister channel Zee Kalinga News was renamed to Zee Odisha in December 2018.)
