1972-1973

The Winnipeg Jets began play in the World Hockey Association.

1973-1990

When the WHA merged with the National Hockey League in 1979, the team moved to the NHL.

1990-1996

After the 1995-96 season, the team relocated to Phoenix and became the Phoenix Coyotes. A new NHL team took the name Winnipeg Jets when the Atlanta Thrashers relocated in 2011.
