Sam Walton named his first store Walton's due to a lease of a previous franchise expiring.
Walmart (first era)
1962–1964
Sam Walton named his new stores WALMART. The Walmart name was presented in just about any front/style available to the printer
Wal-Mart
1964–1981
In 1964, the hyphen (dash) was added between the L and the M, and the font was changed as well.
1981–1992
In 1981, the Walmart logo changed color to brown, and the font was changed as well.
1992–2008
In 1992, Walmart changed logo color to blue, and replaced the dash with a star. This is still used on semi trucks and some stores.
Logo for Wal-Mart supercenters, hypermarkets introduced in the mid 90's. These logos are still used at some locations.
Walmart (second era)
2008–present
A new logo with a new font was first used in late 2008. It was decided that only the W would be upper-case and the rest would be lower-case. A yellow 'spark' or 'sunshine' was added to the logo as well.
Updated logo for Walmart Supercenters, though this logo has been phased out on newer supercenters, now being branded simply Walmart.
