In July 2002, WTEV-TV switched its affiliation from UPN to CBS, after former longtime affiliate WJXT, ended its 53-year-long CBS affiliation (due to CBS and WJXT failing to reach an affiliation renewal agreement with the station) and became a news-intensive independent station.
