After its acquisition by CBS, WFRV-TV became a CBS affiliate on March 15, 1992 (WBAY-TV took over the ABC affiliation).

This short-lived logo was the last to incorporate the old-style "5" logo (which utilizes the Verona Serial Heavy font also used by the Orion stations including WFRV satellite WJMN and WAVE-TV 3 Louisville, Kentucky, as well as WMT-TV 2 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and WFIE-TV 14 in Evansville, Indiana) that WFRV adopted in the 1970s.
