Following the dissolution of MCA, Universal Studios introduced a brand new logo on December 9, 1996, and was given a proper animation to accompany it in 1997, which first appeared on The Lost World: Jurassic Park.

Despite being replaced in 2012, this logo is still used by Universal Sony Pictures Home Entertainment (as a secondary logo as of 2021), Universal Pictures International, and Universal Music Group (the latter broke up from the studio in 2004).

To commemorate the studio's 100th anniversary, Universal's logo was given a dramatic overhaul, alongside a reorchestration of the previous logo's fanfare (rearranged and conducted by Brian Tyler). It was first revealed on January 10, 2012, before officially replacing the previous one starting with Dr. Seuss' The Lorax on February 19[a] of the same year.

On June 12, 2021, the print logos of Universal and its associated sub-brands were redrawn to work better at small sizes.

a. Dr. Seuss' The Lorax originally premiered at Universal Studios Hollywood on February 19, 2012, before coming out everywhere else on March 2 of the same year.
