The familiar red Tesco logo was introduced in 1970.
The logo was adapted in the 1980s for the 'Todays Tesco' campaign.
1987–1996
Tesco adopted a new logo in 1987 with a thinner typeface. A variation of this logo (stretched in width with a thin rectangular outline) was used in an advertising campaign during the Queen Elizabeth II's Diamond Jubilee in 2012 (see 'other logos' below).
1996–present
In 1996 the typeface of the logo was changed to the current version with stripe reflections underneath, whilst the corporate font used for store signage was changed from the familiar "typewriter" font that had been used since the 1970s.

Other Logos
The Big Price Drop started in 2011 and was a focus by Tesco to cut the cost of everyday items.
A retro style logo used by Tesco during the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee advertising campaign, based on the 1987 logo.
During the 2012 Christmas period a green party hat was added to the logo.
Tesco re-introduced the 2012 Christmas logo for 2013, but with a slight change of colour to the dashes from blue to red.
The Tesco Price Promise, introduced in 2013 match prices on branded and own-brand items with other major UK supermarkets.
