Gago was founded in November 8th, 1963 by Lázaro Gago López. After the invasion on 1989 where many locations were burned at that time except a few ones, Gago survived for five more years until founder Gago López decided to sell its supermarket to the owner of the Super 99 franchise Ricardo Martinelli.
Super 99 was originally founded by the Wong Chang family, identified as Almacén 99 in the late of 19th century. Many years later on the late 80s, Lic. Ricardo Martinelli founded a supermarket with the name of Super 99.
The logo consisted of the supermarket's name slanted in color red.
