SpongeBoy Ahoy!

1996–1997 (concept)

SpongeBoy Ahoy!

SpongeBob SquarePants was originally called SpongeBoy Ahoy! during the early development of the show. The title was scrapped to avoid copyright infringement with a pencil that already used the name "SpongeBoy".

This logo was never finalized and was only seen in a storyboard page of the pilot episode.

Beginning in 2016, the "SpongeBob" text in the logo was made all-capital letters, similar to the logo seen on its pilot episode. The colors are brighter, too. This is used on newer prints of widescreen episodes.
