Southern Electric, along with Scottish Hydro Electric, merged to form SSE in 1998.


Southern Electric 1998

Like Scottish Hydro Electric, Southern Electric was kept on as the brand name used by SSE for supplying gas and electricity in England with a very similar logo to the previous one.


Southern Electric 2004

The logo was changed in 2004 to match the SSE colours and font, used on all other SSE products and services.


Southern Electric 2008

In January 2008, the face, which had been used before the takeover by SSE was removed and replaced by the SSE swirl used on all SSE related branding.

In February 2010, the colour of the word 'Electric', was changed to blue, to match the colour of the 'Southern'.
