The franchise was known as Network SouthCentral until 2003 when it became simply South Central.
1994 - 1996
Prior to privatisation, Network SouthEast was split into eleven separate companies. One of which was named Network SouthCentral and used a similar branding scheme to its predecessor.
Connex South Central
1996 - 2001
2001 - 2004
In 2001 Connex lost the South Central franchise. In 2001 the franchise was awarded to Go-via who also operated the franchise as South Central.
2004 - 2015
In 2004 Go-via rebranded the franchise as Southern. In 2009, Gatwick Express services were merged into the South Central franchise. In mid 2015, Southern (along with Gatwick Express) became part of the Thameslink, Southern and Great Northern (TSGN) franchise.
