Originally, Sky Movies Max became known as Sky Movies during its launch in 1989.
On 1993, Sky Movies launched a new look in line with Sky's other channels, thanks to GRFX/Novocom.
Yet another look from GRFX/Novocom was launched in 1995 from all of Sky's channels, including Sky Movies.
On November 1, 1997, the Sky "egg" look debuted on all of Sky's channels, and on that same date, all (but one) of Sky's movie channels became Sky Movies Screen (number), including Sky Movies, which was rebranded as Sky Movies Screen 1.
In September 1998, the entire Sky Movies brand was dropped from all of Sky's movie channels, splitting them into several Sky movie channels, with plans to drop the entire Sky "egg" look from all of its channels one month later in 1998.
In 1999, Sky Moviemax debuted a new look and logo, with an extension to add several Sky Moviemax channels at once (Sky Moviemax 2, Moviemax 3, Moviemax 4, Moviemax 5).
In 2002, the Sky Movies brand was revived and Sky Moviemax was renamed to Sky Movies Max. Several Sky movie channels also used Sky Movies (name). In 2003, several Sky movie channels would be merged and formed into Sky Movies.
