Sky Brasil (first era)
The Organizações Globo, in association with British Sky Broadcasting, a subsidiary of News Corporation, and Liberty Media International, launched Sky Brasil to compete with the newly launched satellite television service DirecTV Brasil.
The Sky Brasil, then being a leader in the satellite pay TV market, merged with its largest competitor, DirecTV Brasil, the market deputy leader. After the merger, the company was renamed as Sky+DirecTV.
Sky Brasil (second era)
Sky dropped the DirecTV logo in 2007 and came to be called only as "Sky Brasil". News Corporation sold his participation in the company to DirecTV in the same year.
