The first regular TV transmissions ocurred in January 5th, 1976. At the moment, the channel only broadcasted in English and Afrikaans languages.

The 4 colours represent the new and current South African flag. A slogan of the station at the time was "Dié een is vir jou!" in Afrikaans, and "This one is for you!" in English.
