Red Admiral was a bus operator jointly owned by Southampton CityBus and Badgerline to compete with Portsmouth Corporation. Within a year, Badgerline sold its share to Southampton CityBus. Upon the purchase of Portsmouth Corporation by Southampton CityBus, Red Admiral became a subsidiary of newly created Portsmouth CityBus. The Red Admiral name became briefly defunct in 1989 when Stagecoach purchased Southampton CityBus. It would return in 1991 as a trading name of Transit Holdings.
