RED Music started out as Important Record Distributors in 1979 before being renamed to Relativity Entertainment Distribution in 1991.

In 1991, after Important Record Distributors changed their name to Relativity Entertainment Distribution, the namesake distributor of Relativity Records, this logo was crafted not too long after.

Although RED Distribution was a copyright holder to coincide less with the Relativity name, the company name was changed to its acronym to further distance itself from Relativity.

2009–2017[]

2017–present (United States)[]

In 2017, Sony Music Entertainment merged RED with The Orchard, therefore, the "Distribution" name was changed to its current namesake, "RED Music", because The Orchard is now a sole distributor to this label as RED no longer acts as a self-imposed distributor under Sony.
