RBC Televisión is a Peruvian TV channel, broadcasting on channel 11 in Lima, through 4 eras (1986-96, 2002-03, 2006-18 and since 2022).
It was created through a shareholder campaign called Seamos Socios and the acronym RBC stands for Red Bicolor de Comunicaciones and also the initials of its founder, Ricardo Belmont Casinelli.
RBC Televisión (first era)[]
1985-1986 (pre-launch)[]
This is the first logo used in the campaign "Seamos Socios", promoted by Ricardo Belmont Casinelli to inaugurate Red Bicolor de Comuniciaciones S.A.A., operator of this incarnation and the following ones. The logo was a television screen of the red time inside which the abbreviation "RBC" appears (abbreviated name of the mentioned society, although the abbreviation also mentions the initials of the name of its founder) and underneath, the word "TELEVISION" on a pair of lines of opposite directions, all these elements of white color.
1986-1994[]
In 1986, with the official launch of the channel, the logo changed, the screen is now light blue, striped and with a thick gold border surrounding it. On top of this, the acronym "RBC" with the font used by its counterpart RBC Radio in ice blue with a white border and underneath, the word "TELEVISION" in white and small.
1991-1994[]
In 1990, the screen loses the edge and abandons the stripes. On top of this, the word "CANAL", an "11" and the acronym of the channel with the previously used typography.
1994-January 1996[]
When it became a news channel, the logo was a stylized silver "11" and below it, the acronym "RBC" in Helvetica Black typeface with the same texture as the number 11. Both the number 11 and the acronym were occasionally used separately.
January-April 1996 (first closing), 2001-2002, 2011[]
Between January and April 1996, the logo was the name of the channel in Century Schoolbook typography, being used until April of that year to make way for Canal Familiar.
The logo was re-used between the discrepancies between the Belmont family and Austral Televisión (2001 and 2002) and to commemorate the 25th anniversary of RBC Televisión.
2002-2003 (emergency transmissions)[]
The logo of this incarnation was a diamond textured TV screen border and inside, the acronym "RBC" with a golden texture and underneath, the word "TELEVISION" in silver texture.
2006 (relaunch)-2009[]
The first logo of the second RBC was a red horizontal ellipse cut by a curve in the shape of a road, above, the name "RBC" in graffiti style typography, the logo was surrounded by a ring formed by black spheres (occasionally silver on colored backgrounds) and below, the full name of the operating company in the same style.
2009-2014[]
Then, with the arrival of Federico Anchorena as RBC manager, on June 23, 2009 a more recognizable and simplified version of the channel's "capsule" logo was released. In this logo, the ring with spheres is removed, the ellipse is stretched and the cut is less thick and with a simplified 3D, in addition the acronym changes its typography to Gill Sans Semibold.
2014-2017[]
In 2014, with the start of HD broadcasts, the logo was modified, changing to a darker color of red and adding a couple of shades, one gray and another transparent shadow.
In its first design it carried the word Satellite, but with the arrival of Matrix Corporation S.A.C. to the programmatic management of the channel, that word disappears.
This logo, along with that of Canal 11, was used until 2017.
Canal 11[]
2016-2017[]
On February 1, 2016, the channel momentarily used the name of Canal 11. The logo was a light blue parallelogram divided into two with a gray border, above the word "Canal" in the first parallelogram and "11" in the second, both in Impact typeface and in white. The logo was used alongside the 2015 capsule logo in some facilities.
RBC Televisión (third & fourth eras)[]
September 2017-2018 (second closing)[]
In September 2017, under the arm of RadioCorp Online, the "pill" logo was modified, as was the font, and the word "TELEVISIÓN" was added in Helvetica Light and small font.
On December 10, 2018, RBC Televisión closed for a third time, being this time replaced by Viva TV.
2021-present (secondary)[]
Between 2021 and 2022, it was announced by Ricardo Belmont Casinelli, founder of the channel, that RBC Televisión would return in 2022. This logo (similar to the one of the BBC) has been used as a secondary logo, primarily in advertising.
2022-2023 (third closing)[]
The official re-launch of RBC Televisión was made on October 19th, 2022.
