Mondelēz International was originally Kraft Foods, Inc.. The name is now carried in a new company, which was spun off on October 1, 2012.
Kraft Foods, Inc.
Kraft's very famous racetrack logo was given a facelift in 1976, removing the racetrack outline and changing the Kraft wordmark to blue. One of the slogans that went with this logo was part of the jingle "America Spells Cheese K-R-A-F-T." That slogan was specific to Kraft Cheeses, on which the company had initially been established. The logo is still used as a brand logo. Kraft Foods Group presently uses a modified version of this logo.
Kraft unveiled a new logo, changing from the racetrack logo to a new "smile-and-splash" logo. The updated logo was used for only 5 months. Brand New ranked this the sixth-worst logo of 2009. Kraft Foods, Smiling at You (Brand New)
Kraft modified its "smile-and-splash" logo in June 2009. This was ranked the 5th worst logo of 2009, similar to the previous logo. At present, the logo is no longer used in North America, but is still used in regions outside North America. Kraft Foods, Rearranging the Puzzle (Brand New)
In August 2011, Kraft Foods announced that they would spin off a large portion of their brands into a new company. In March 2012, they revealed that the new company would carry the name Kraft Foods while the original company would be renamed Mondelēz International. This was completed on October 1, 2012. A logo was revealed earlier, in May, now featuring a purple colored Mondelez International text, and fewer splash drops, both colored in red.
