McLaren is a Formula One constructor, founded by Bruce McLaren in 1963 and debuted in 1966.
Bruce McLaren Motor Racing Team
The "McLaren Crest" was designed by Michael Turner in 1964. A kiwi appeared on this logo, being the national bird of New Zealand, which is the birthplace of Bruce McLaren, who is the founder of the team.
1967-1980, 2017-present (Alternate)
In 1965 the "crest" evolved to the infamous "Speedy Kiwi", a more stylized version of the bird. It was used until 1980. It came back as an alternate when team ownership was changed in 2017.

1972-1975In 1972 McLaren got a first main sponsor - purveyor of soap and perfumes, Yardley.
Marlboro Team Texaco
For one year, the McLaren name was removed from the team.

In 1980, McLaren's logo was changed, using hints from the Marlboro logo as an inspiration.

1995-1997In 1995 McLaren began to use Mercedes-Benz engines, their logo returning to the basic "McLaren" varient.
West McLaren Mercedes
In 1997 the longest ever sponsorship deal in Formula 1 history ended, McLaren moved from Marlboro to West, another tobacco company. McLaren's red swoosh got a modern update, to seperate it from the Marlboro logo.
Team McLaren Mercedes
In 2006 tobacco sponsorship in Formula One was banned and McLaren lost their main sponsor.
Vodafone McLaren Mercedes
In 2007 McLaren found a new sponsor, Vodafone.
2014In 2014 McLaren lost their main sponsorship.
In 2015, Honda engines returned to McLaren for the first time since 1992.
In 2017, McLaren announced Renault as their engine supplier for 2018 after a disastrous three years with Honda. The team will only be named "McLaren".
