As part of the first restaurant redesign for decades, called 'Forever Young', the logo was redesigned in 2006.

On March 8, 2022, McDonald's announced that they would be temporarily suspending operations due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. As a result, it had halted operations of roughly 850 restaurants in Russia.

On May 16, 2022, following the initially temporary shutdown of Russian restaurants, McDonald's announced that it will permanently leave Russia after more than thirty years, and start to sell its restaurants. McDonald's claimed that owning a business in Russia was "no longer tenable" or consistent with its values.[1]

In June 2022, following the sale of all Russian McDonald's restaurants, Vkusno – i Tochka was launched as a successor and all former Russian McDonald's locations had been converted into the Vkusno – i Tochka brand by the end of November.
