Mastercard was launched as Master Charge in 1966.

In 1979, Master Charge became MasterCard.
1990–1996Edit
The font was changed and italicized, and the intersection of the circles was changed to horizontal stripes.
1996–PresentEdit
In 1996, a drop shadow was added to the lettering and the number of interlacing lines were reduced. Though a new corporate logo was introduced in 2006, this logo remains in use on the cards themselves.

2006–PresentEdit
This logo only applies to the MasterCard Worldwide corporation, and is not used on their cards.
