MTV R was renamed MTV Shows on March 1, 2010, when the MTV channels in the UK were relaunched. The new idents for MTV Shows were created by Proud Creative in London.[1]

One reason behind the launch of MTV Shows was to give an outlet in the Entertainment section on the UK Sky platfom. On this platform, all music channels are grouped very high up on the electronic programme guide, which made the main MTV channel suffer from low ratings.
