LEGO is a Danish brand of children's toys. Founded on August 10, 1932, the brand today has an international presence.
LEGO (first era)[]
1934–1936[]
Despite being founded in 1932, the company did not have a name for its first couple of years of existence since it was just Ole Kirk Christiansen's carpentry shop. Christiansen later held a contest among his staff to name the company in 1934, but ended up choosing the name himself: "Lego", based on the Danish phrase "leg godt", although "lego" can also mean "I put together" in Latin.
