The LaserDisc was an early optical disc that was made by Philips in 1980. The format would hold at least an hour of video, compared to 2 hours on its other format VHS. Releases on LaserDisc would be usually a few months after the release on VHS. In 2001, production of discs was stopped but players were still being made until 2009.
