It was announced in January 2013 that the new South Korean second division would be called the K League, while the first division would be rebranded to the K League Classic. The organisation running these leagues would also use the designation K League.
K League Challenge
In March 2013 it was announced that owing to potential confusion, the second division would instead be called the K League Challenge.
