ITV Thames Valley was a non-franchise news region formed from the merger of two sub-regions; Central South and Meridian North. In 2009, the number of local news regions were reduced from seventeen to nine, achieved by the abolition of sub-regions. Local news in the former Thames Valley area was henceforth provided by way of a pre-recorded segment of the pan-regional news programme ITV News Meridian. Subsequently, in 2013, this segment was expanded to a ten minute opt-out with a further full-length bulletin on weeknights following ITV News at Ten.
