1985–1992[]
When the station was bought by Florida-based Family Group Broadcasting in 1985, it changed call signs from WLRE to WGBA and adopted a logo patterned after those of other Family-owned stations including WFTX-TV, WFGX-TV, WPGX-TV, WVFT-TV, WQRF-TV and WLAX-TV.

1992–1995[]
In February 1992, Green Bay's original Fox affiliate WXGZ–TV (channel 32) went dark due to financial problems (it would return to the air two years later as WACY-TV). WGBA took over the Fox affiliation for Green Bay the next morning and would rebrand aurally and visually to "Fox 26".

1995–1998[]
On August 28, 1995, WGBA-TV swapped affiliations with WLUK-TV (channel 11), becoming the NBC affiliate for the Green Bay market as part of a group affiliation deal with SF Broadcasting who purchased four stations (including WLUK-TV) from Burnham Broadcasting and become Fox affiliates; WGBA then became known on-air as "NBC 26".
