The first shop opened on Charles Street, Portsmouth, Hampshire, England in 1873.

Before the national 'Cloverleaf' logo was introduced in 1968, the Portsea Island Mutual Co-operative society (or PIMCO as it was sometimes known as) logo varied significantly from shop to shop. Therefore there was no single official logo.
