Star World (India)

Star World was an English general entertainment channel (GEC) in India; it complements Star World Premiere HD and Disney International HD (and, formerly, FX).

Star World was launched to fill the gap when Star Plus transformed from an English GEC to a Hindi GEC in July 2000. (Disney International HD is now an indirect sister channel to Star World after The Walt Disney Company acquired Star in March 2019.)

The logo in India has remained unchanged since 22 December 2008 when all the Star World channels in Asia and the Middle East rebranded. However, the graphics package was changed once, in 2015.

Star World in India has used the same logo since 2008, unlike its Southeast Asian counterpart, which used several logos before being rebranded to Fox Life on 1 October 2017. In India, Star World and Fox Life are different channels.

On 1 December 2021, Star World India and Star World Premiere HD were expected to shut down, along with several other Disney and Star channels in India, leaving Disney International HD as the broadcaster's only English GEC.^[1]^[2] However, on 26 November 2021, these shutdowns were indefinitely postponed, due to a delay in the TRAI’s new tariff rules.^[3] The channels would eventually close on 14 March 2023.^[4]

WFDF was originally in the Flint radio market before moving to Farmington Hills in the Detroit radio market in 2006. As a result of the station's move to Detroit, WFRO in the Toledo market as well as another station in Northern Michigan (also on 900) were taken off the air to allow WFDF to increase its broadcast power.
Disney/ABC never owned the station, but operated it under a Local Marketing Agreement. Birach Broadcasting has since taken complete, outright control of the station.
These stations are either silent or completely off the air at this time.
WGVX also simulcasts on 105.3 and 105.7.
