Originally signed on the air on October 19, 1964 as KTEH; former independent stations KBSC-TV in Corona/Los Angeles (now Telemundo station KVEA), and KECH (now Ion Television station KPXG-TV) in Portland, Oregon also used the same font used by KTEH at the time, called New Zelek.

The KTEH logo was changed on September 1st, 2008, two years after KQED and KTEH were merged into an umbrella company, Northern California Public Broadcasting (now known as KQED Inc.), on May 1, 2006.
