PyeongChang2018Motto

On 16 May 2015, as part of a 1000-days to go celebration for the Games, the official motto was revealed. The motto was named Passion. Connected. (or in Korean: 하나된 열정). The motto demonstrates the ability of Olympic sport to instill excitement in others while bringing them together at the same time.

On 2 June 2016, the mascots were introduced: Soohorang, the Olympic mascot is a white tiger who is "full of passion and enthusiasm" and "a strong personality that protects the people who participate in the Olympics". Bandabi, the Paralympic mascot is a Asiatic black bear who has "strong will and courage, is at the forefront of equality and harmony" and supports the enthusiasm of players in the Paralympics. The mascots made their international debut at the PyeongChang 2018 House which ran from 6 to 21 of August of that same year during Rio 2016.
