On 7 June 2008, ERT was rebranded with a new look and a new logo. The rebrand was handled by Red Bee Media. For the new idents, Red Bee collaborated with Bermuda Shorts and Trunk for animation and Envy Post for music.

On 11 June 2013, the Greek government announced that ERT would be shut down as a money-saving measure. ERT has continued to broadcast, primarily online and via satellite. Six days later, on 17 June, a Greek court ordered the government to allow ERT back on the air.

In March 2015, the newly-elected Greek government introduced a bill to reopen ERT. The bill was passed by the Greek parliament on 29 April 2015.

It was officially reopened on 11 June 2015.
