Discovery Health Channel
Discovery Health was originally launched in 1998 as a digital cable network.
On August 2, 1999, Discovery Health became a regular analog basic cable channel with significantly increased budget.
In January 2008, Discovery Communications announced the launch of the OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network which was scheduled to replace Discovery Health in 2009.
Discovery Health continued broadcasting as before until the eventual launch of OWN. They even introduced a new logo which was based on the new Discovery Channel logo. The launch of OWN was postponed several times, extending the life of Discovery Health until it is finally replaced on January 1, 2011. However, it was relaunched one month later, merging with FitTV to become Discovery Fit & Health.
