Discovery, Inc. (formerly Cable Educational Network, Inc. and Discovery Communications, Inc.) was an American multinational non-fiction media conglomerate based in New York City (formerly on Silver Spring, Maryland).

It was founded in 1985 as Cable Educational Network, a holding company of the Discovery Channel and TLC (acquired in 1991). The company was renamed to Discovery Communications in 1994 and again to the current name after a merger with Scripps Networks Interactive on March 6, 2018.

On May 17, 2021, it was officially announced that Discovery, Inc. would merge with WarnerMedia to form Warner Bros. Discovery. [1]

On March 6, 2018, after the merger of Discovery Communications and Scripps Networks Interactive, the combined entity became simply known of Discovery, Inc. The logo is the same but refined and dropped the word "Communications" completely after the transaction.

On May 17, 2021, AT&T announced that WarnerMedia and Discovery, Inc. will merge to create a new publicly-traded company to compete with Disney and Netflix. The merger was completed on April 8, 2022.
