Some larger Coop Konsum stores were renamed Coop Extra soon after the Coop Konsum name had been introduced. They did however remain part of the Coop Konsum chain and used the same visual profile, with the exception of the logo.

2004-

In May 2004, several more Coop Konsum stores became Coop Extra. At the same time, the stores were broken out of Coop Konsum to become a distinctly separate chain with its own red visual profile.
