This article is about the Malaysian telecom company. For the Israeli mobile network operator, see Cellcom . Celcom is the flagship subsidiary of the Malaysian telecommunications conglomerate Axiata Group . It is considered to be one of the big three telecom companies in Malaysia, along with Digi and Maxis . The three companies, together with the new entrant U Mobile , account for most of the telecom subscribers in the country. Celcom runs a discount/prepaid brand called Xpax , as well as several mobile network operators.
Originally owned by the state-owned Telekom Malaysia , Celcom was spun off in 2007, and acquired by what would be the Axiata Group.
Celcom merged with Digi as a company to become CelcomDigi in 30th November 2022, however all operations and brandings remain the same after the merge.
1989–1997 [ ] 1997–2004 [ ] 2004–2009 [ ] 2009–present [ ] Axiata Group was formed in 2009 with a new corporate identity, and Celcom abandoned its hummingbird symbol in favour of Axiata’s new corporate logo.
