In 2008, the Canadian Championship was founded, with Nutrilite the title sponsor. The inaugural contest featured Major League Soccer's Toronto FC, and Montreal Impact and Vancouver Whitecaps, both from the USL First Division. This trifecta was the lineup each year until FC Edmonton of the North American Soccer League and the MLS iteration of the 'Caps joined for the 2011 competition.
Amway Canadian Championship
Nutrilite's parent company Amway took over the title sponsorship in time for the 2012 tournament, which was the first to feature the top-flight version of the Impact. NASL side Ottawa Fury FC made their debut in 2014.
Amway's sponsorship expired after the 2016 event; the 2017 edition was unsponsored.
