Solar TV was launched on November 29, 2009 on RPN as part of a blocktime agreement with Solar Entertainment. It ended its broadcast on February 25, 2011 as Solar buys a stake of RPN, and programming of ETC (now Solar Flix) was transferred to the network.

Talk TV was launched on March 2, 2011 on test broadcast replacing ETC on SBN-21. It was officially launched on its full broadcast on April 1, 2011.

On October 30, 2012, Talk TV was replaced with Solar News Channel. On November 30, 2013, Solar News Channel moved to RPN-9 while ETC returned to SBN-21.

In October 2014, Nine Media Corporation signed a license agreement with Turner Broadcasting System Asia Pacific to use the CNN brand in the Philippines. On March 16, 2015, 9TV ceased broadcasting after almost 7 months and it was rebranded as CNN Philippines.

On January 27, 2024, Media Newser Philippines announced that CNN Philippines will cease broadcasting after 9 years due to financial losses caused by poor ratings and loss of advertisers' support.

On January 29, 2024, CNN Philippines confirmed that it has ceased live news productions effective immediately, and it will cease operations on January 31, 2024 at 10:00 pm (PHT).

On February 1, 2024, MediaQuest Holdings and NMC launched RPTV, replacing CNN Philippines.
