1984 - 1986

Channel Island Ferries was founded in late 1984 by a consortium which included Brittany Ferries to compete with the Sealink service to the Channel Islands.

1986 - 1994

In 1986, the company merged with Sealink and was renamed to British Channel Island Ferries in order to operate ferry routes from Portsmouth and Weymouth to the Channel Islands. In January 1994, British Channel Island Ferries was bought by Commodore Shipping. Condor Ferries took over the passenger operation solely from Weymouth.
