Created in 1916, officially founded in 1918 as "Sinaloa", evolved as "Lusitania" on 1919, changed name as "U-53" at 1920, renamed as "Atlantico" on 1921, the name "Atlante" has since been adopted.

Atlante was owned by IMSS (Mexican Institute of Social Security) in 1978, it was not until 1980 when the emblem officially changed.
