The official logo for the centennial Olympics was revealed on 13 February 1992, and was designed by Michael Collins of Landor Associates. The logo features the Olympic flame and stars in five colors on the top half while the bottom half represents the 100th anniversary of the modern Olympics.

During the closing ceremony of the Olympic Games Barcelona 1992, the mascot was introduced. The mascot was named Whatizit (as in "What is it?"), but received heavy backlash. Whatizit was later renamed Izzy and was refocused at children rather than adults, but still appeared in licensing materials for the Games. The mascot was designed by John Ryan from DESIGNefx.

The mascot was introduced sometime in 1992 and was named Blaze, the phoenix who is the symbol of the city of Atlanta and the mascot's tagline was "Triumph of The Human Spirit".
