This was only used for a few months until being replaced with the 'swish' logo in 1998.

Later in 1998, Amazon dropped the yellow circle logo and replaced it with a new swish logo. The logo uses a Officina Sans font which is Bold for amazon and Book for .com.

This logo shows a yellow arrow going from the "A" to the "Z" in "Amazon". The arrow shows, indirectly, that they have everything from A-Z. Amazon launched this logo at 2:00am (EST) on January 25, 2000.
